Slimbridge Wetland Centre

In term 4, years 3 and 4 went on an amazing trip to Slimbridge Wetland Centre as part of our science topic - Animals including Humans.

During our visit to the Flamingo hut we found out an interesting fact about where flamingos get their pink colour from.

Can you spot the black-winged Stilt in the picture below?

We saw some beautiful swans and Hawaiian geese.

Across the lake we saw an amazingly crafted Beaver dam.  We learned all about the adapt and survive in their wetland habitat.

Later David gave us a talk about the South American Otters. There was a mum and her two daughters. We also talked about how otters adapt their habitat in comparison to the beaver.

Here is a Trumpeter swan was talking to its mate. It made a very loud noise like a trumpet.
